The 5th Annual LION Live Surgical Broadcast will be held on Thursday May 27, 2010. The main annual Global Live Surgical Broadcast of LION is one of the largest conferences in the ENT world.
Twenty simultaneous live operating sessions will be performed by 17 leading otologists from their own operating room in North America, Brazil, Dubaï, Turkey, Spain, Netherlands, Italy, France, Germany, and Poland. To download the provisional program Click here

The moderators located at the LION Hub in Utrecht will be

The program will cover a wide range of procedures in the field of otology & neurotology including otosclerosis, ossicular reconstruction, cholesteatoma, implantable hearing aids (BAHA, Otologics and Symphonix Vibrant Soundbridge Middle Ear Implant), cochlear implantation (Nucleus, MedEl, Advanced Bionics, Neurelec), vestibular neurectomy for Meniere's disease and surgical management of vestibular schwannoma.
Various indications and surgical techniques will be discussed by combining case presentation, live surgery, and panel discussion. The surgeons will explain and demonstrate their surgical techniques via the LION Network. The moderating team located in Utrecht will facilitate active discussion to encourage international exchange of knowledge and ideas in this field between the surgeons and delegates in the conference halls or via the internet.

The LION 2010 configuration will give delegates the chance to choose between two channels of real-time simultaneous live surgery and discussion depending on their otological interests. This choice will be available both for the HD videoconferencing halls and the live internet streaming.
How to take part in this event:
This event can be followed from more than 30 videoconference halls worldwide and will also be broadcasted via internet from any computer through the LION web site. The final program and list of videoconference halls in each country will soon be available at http://www.lion-web.org

You can participate in the 5th LION Broadcast in two ways:
- High Definition Conference Hall: Each videoconference hall will be fully equiped with a HD videoconferencing system. This allows for real time inter-action between the delegates in the conference hall facilities and the surgeons via the Eurohub moderators. There will be conference halls available in several countries throughout the world and the list for each country will be published soon on the LION web site.
It will be possible to open conference facilities worldwide for this event for direct interaction with the surgeons and moderators. If you wish to link a conference hall in your city or institution click_here and follow the instructions.
Only IP connection will be possible with at least 1Mb SDSL speed and it will be necessary to schedule the preliminary tests of connection with SurfNet.
